Come back to yourself
A friend of mine swears by her daily session in her Gym. She goes every evening and if she can’t go for some reason, she makes it a point to have a longer session next day. Another one loves her garden. You will find her tending to her plants and herbs and if I ever have a dying plant or a vegetable plant, which is not yielding anything, I know where to go.
Most of us have that one passion which is not a hobby but part of our being. It gives us relief from stress, tends to our hurt feelings and acts like a therapy. For me, it’s music. If I don’t listen to music even for a couple of days, I feel lost. The passion to accompany this is my cooking. So very often you will find me cooking and humming, actually singing merrily. No matter how upset I am, music calms me down and cooking makes me happy.
Most of us have this one thing that pushes our buttons. And the most interesting thing is, it doesn’t have to be expensive. It could be a day-to-day thing like your pet, your child, a particular movie (show me any 'Harry Potter' movie any day if you want to lift my spirits). It could be a ritual that you follow each day, it could be your volunteer work.
Depending on what stage of life you are, it will change too. When we are young, our passions, and by that I don’t mean only amorous kind, push us. But as we get older and start to settle down, our priorities change and so do our passions.
But it's something you come back to whenever you feel life is getting at you. When you feel overwhelmed and feel claustrophobic. Then come to this inner sanctuary and you feel find immense relief. It reminds you that things that you are feeling upset about are not that relevant and simple pleasures of life are more important.
Find what makes you tick. And stay with it
So be it !!!
