I say there is no darkness but ignorance-Shakespeare

I asked a question to one of my friends and she said, ‘I don’t know and I don’t care. After all, ignorance is bliss.’ Well, it may be true about certain things, though I have my doubts about it, but ignorance can never really be a bliss. I have people who say if it doesn’t concern me, I don’t want to know about it.

Really? We store our brains with what is happening in the lives of people we have never even met except Facebook, we bombard our brains with video games and puzzles and we constantly are looking for escapes from reality but issues that affect our lives, we don’t want to hear.

The millennials are not interested in politics, they don’t even vote let alone think to participate in the politics. They don’t want to know what is happening in the climate change, they don’t care if Holocaust ever happened but wishing a friend on Facebook is something they must do. They don’t talk to their families on the dining table but they chat incessantly with their friends on different apps. The interesting part is these friends also don’t meet physically that often.

So ignorant they are that an average youngster today doesn’t even know how global economy is changing and having an impact on their lives. How the geo-political lines are blurring and affecting us.

So those who say ignorance is bliss, think again. Our intelligence is the only thing, which makes us superior to all other species in this world. And if you want to waste that intelligence by being ignorant, well, bless you. But if you can use that intelligence to think about issues that matter and do something, then you will serve your purpose of being born as a human

So be it!!!
