‘Its not funny to be happy’
This one is from yours truly. Some one called in my studio
and asked me how can you be so chirpy all the time? Are you for real or is it
just a show for others? That actually me caught me thinking.
Yes I am an optimist person and a chatterbox. I see the cup
half full most of the time and I can say that with my share of ups and downs in
life, I have come out victorious because of this positive attitude.
But do you think I don’t get frustrated or I don’t feel
angry? To tell you the truth, I was a fairly short-tempered person till a few
years back. That, despite being positive. I would get mad at people when they
broke the line, when someone was rude or when things didn’t go as I had
planned. I would get angry with the driver on the road who took a risky turn
causing me to apply brakes. I would get angry with my children. You get the
picture.
But because I was on radio, I had to sound happy and guess
what? I would actually feel happy the moment I started my show. So yes, I am a
happy person but I also have to be conscious about not sounding down and out on
the radio.
And being happy is actually not funny. It is a serious
business. Life will give us lemons. Now whether we make lemonade out of it or
we throw the lemons is up to us. If we fail, we learn more. In fact, our
failures teach us more than our success. So cry a little, feel depressed, eat
that tub of ice cream or a box of chocolate but then get up and decide you are
not going to wallow in self-pity. That’s not going to get you anywhere.
I worked on stop getting angry on small things. I still get
angry sometimes but then I am a human being. We can choose to be happy by not
reacting to things that happen. Rather, make things happen by being happy.
Everyone loves meeting a happy person so get serious about being happy.
So be it!!!
