Are we desensitized?

I am sure most of you reading this block are avid users of Facebook. We spend quite a lot of our time on social media. But have you noticed one thing? The moment you post a video of yourself enjoying a party, roaming in some tourist place or simply having fun, you get instant likes and comments. Your Facebook friends send you best wishes, compliments and emojis. Your inbox shows numerous people liking your post and so on.

But what if you post a video of soldiers fighting a battle or a girl entrepreneur or story of a person helping others in spite of limited sources; these comments dwindle down to a single digit. Almost nobody shares your posts, there are a couple of emojis and the post gets lost in the abysmal pit of social media.

Have you thought why? We have become so desensitized with this constant bombardment of self-promotion that we have no time to really read and absorb the real news or anything constructive. We have hate tirades going on, selfies are filling up our FB pages but a story, which highlights an achievement, gets no place.

Occasionally, one such story gets highlighted, if the atmosphere in society is built up around that story. But most of them are ignored, passed over and if seen, are forgotten.

I have experienced that often. I post a meaningful video or story and it gets hardly any comments but any videos of mine having fun are inundated with likes and comments. What do you do? Do you fall in to the category of ignoring creative stories? If so, don’t feel ashamed but just think if you would like to include those stories in your browsing.

Tomorrow you could have a story so go ahead and read about others too

So be it !!!!!
