Are you for real?
What a question to ask. But I am serious. Most of us live in
a circle of friends, family and colleagues. We have different roles to play and
various acts to perform. We do it sometimes willingly and sometime with a pinch
of salt. These relationships give meaning to our lives and also sometime bring
pain and stress. But they are a part and parcel of our lives.
What happens to us? Do you find yourself so immersed playing
all these roles that you forget who you are? Do you go out of the way to
appease somebody and then later get stressed why did you do it? Do you find
yourself to be the accommodating one every time? If so, just take a deep
breath, sit back and reflect. Who are you? Are you just a player of these roles
or are you a person beyond all these roles of a mother, wife, girlfriend, son,
husband or any other?
What are your wishes for yourself? Do you spend sometime
with ‘You’? Honestly, the more I talk to people, the more I get to the
conclusion that we have forgotten who ‘we’ are. We are always busy playing a
role. When do we sit down and just ‘be’?
And this is something so essential for our mental health. If
you just sit by yourself for 10 minutes everyday and think who you are and what
you believe in, you will find better mental clarity, better perspective and
this in turn will help you play all those roles more effectively.
After all, we become what we believe in. More of this
tomorrow. Till then, ‘be’ by yourself.
So be it!!!
