Words are powerfull.
Imagine if we didn’t have words. That means no language. Like all other species we were to communicate through noises. Would we have made such progress in science, technology, architecture even art?
You could say what has science got to do with words? It’s all calculations, formulae and drawings. But how do you calculate without words and how do you come up with formula? With words. All the epics, poems, novels, stories written over centuries wouldn’t have been possible without words. There would be no Shakespeare, Kalidasa, Homer today to remember.
Words are so essential to us. We express every emotion through them. They create magic, they make us laugh, cry and even fight. I think we wouldn’t be so passionate if were didn’t have words. Would we have schools or universities to teach us anything? Ofcourse not.
Words are what set us apart from every other species in the world. They give us power to bring our thoughts together, they fuel our imagination, they weave our stories beautifully in the tapestry of life, creating intricate motifs, patterns and colours. They give us direction, caress us when we are despondent, encourage us when we are struggling and reprimand us when we make a mistake. They are our one true friend who stands with us till death.
But what do we do? Do we respect our words? Do we utter them only when necessary or do we keep rambling without any purpose? Do we use them wisely? Words have power, immense power to either make a man or destroy him. Kind words act like a balm to an injured soul and harsh words act like a sword piercing our heart.
My mother used to say choose your words carefully before speaking, something I am not always able to do. Shakespeare said, “ brevity is the soul of wit”.
On that note I think I should not waste any more words.
Use your words carefully.
So be it !!!
