KAIZEN

 KAIZEN

I first read about this word in a Toyota brochure. It is their tag line. Kaizen is a Japanese methodology focused on continued improvement. It involves small but steady changes on all levels of organization to improve the overall quality and productivity. It isn’t just about data based decisions or forming different teams from across departments but to create a mindset of continuous improvement.

There are five principles of Kaizen. They are Seiri, sort and remove unnecessary items, Seiton, organize items for easy access, Seiso, clean the work area, Seiketsu, establishing consistent processes and lastly Shitsuke, maintain improvements. Japanese are known for their work ethics. Every Japanese company works continuously for improvement in their products and services.

But why just work improvement? Why not have Kaizen in our personal life? The five principles of Kaizen can be easily applied to our health, relationships, our behaviour. Sort what is wrong with my lifestyle , throw out the junk food, cleanse our system, establish healthy habits and maintain them for continuous improvement. Same goes for relationships. Apply these principles in exploring areas of improvement, throwing out negativity and toxic behavior, establishing boundaries and understanding a new perspective and maintain the good work.

There is a social media influencer who goes by the name of Kaizen Man. He is a yoga teacher but apart from that he makes videos about improving different areas of your life. He does it in an interesting way.

What are your thoughts about philosophy of Kaizen? Do you think you can apply it in your life? If yes, where? Do share.

May Kaizen influence you.

So be it !!!
