Life as we want it?

Life as we want it?

So Dia Mirza spoke about not playing holi as it wastes water and Shefali Vaidya wrote a big article about how Dia has not paid her water bills and how she should not be flushing her toilets as that also wastes water. Both had some valid points in their arguements.

Indian celebrities are trying to get involved in national issues these days. Which is good but first let them come out of their luxurious homes and see the reality of how the rest of India lives. Aamir Khan talks about intolerance, Kareena Kapoor echoes that and now Dia Mirza talks about not playing holi because the farmers will suffer.

Aamir has a mega budget movie coming up, so he has to make news. He does this before every film. Now he is retracting his steps by saying he never meant that and how his statement was twisted.  Kareena is not getting too many offers, her role in heroine is becoming a reality and she has to attract attention. Dia Mirza is now a has been. So how does she come in limelight? By talking about a serious issue like water conservation. Thank god she didn’t come up with something like Sonam Kapoor’s retarted statements.

Do these people actually read? Apart from reading the film tabloids, which publish articles about them, paid by them. I mean do they have any idea how people actually live their life day to day? How their ‘bai’ lives in some ‘chawl’ and who works 18 hours a day to keep their home running. Have any of these stars done anything for that woman, or their driver, cook, anybody? I would love to see how they treat them.

Celebrities like Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon dot claim to be very suave and sophisticated but these are the people who actually help poor. Nana Patekar and Akshay Kumar have donated million of rupees to farmers. What has Dia done? Has she even visited a village? What has Aamir Khan done with the profits of 3 Idiots? He didn’t even acknowledge that the film was based on Chetan Bhagat’s book. Has he ever donated any money to any academic institution? Raveena Tandon adopted two little orphan girls when she was only 20 years old. She paid for their education and got them married with her own money. Anupam Kher has worked relentlessly for displaced Kashmiri pandits from Srinagar.

Stars in Hollywood get involved in an issue, they do something about that. Look at Angelina Jolie. I may find her logic in choosing to act in stupid movies like Salt but I admire what she has done in her charity work with UNO. Not to mention her adopting kids from poor countries and to give them love of a parent. That is commendable. Richard Gere actually works in Africa. George Clooney does so much of charity work.

So Dia though I admire your concern for the farmers of India, I hae a suggestion from you. Next time you have a party in your house, think of the farmer who grows that food and how he starves while you throw out the waste food from the party. Go and donate that food to an orphanage. They will give you blessings.

So be it !!!
