What
are you celebrating today?
I
always ask this question in my life skills workshops. Why? Because it shifts
the focus immediately to positive in your life. Instead of whining what is
wrong in your life or how miserable you are, you start to feel grateful of all
the things you have. Simple things like you can see, smell, eat, walk, and
talk. It could be today your child spoke for the first time or you met your
sweetheart. Anything, but celebrate everyday. Oprah Winfrey says, “the more you
celebrate, you have more to celebrate”.
It
was my grandmother who always said, be grateful for what you have instead of
complaining. Little did I realize then how right she was and how one day it was
going to help me in helping others.
Want
to know how lucky you are?
Take
a journal and starting from today, start writing things you can celebrate.
Anything that comes to your mind. Simple things like the first flower in the
spring or your new watch. Just write down all of them. Do this for a month. At
the end of the month, go through the journal. You will be surprised how lucky
you are.
Next
time you feel miserable, open that journal and read all the celebrations and I
can see that smile coming to your face.
