‘Life begins on the other side of despair’

It is uncanny how great minds are able to summarize wisdom in such a concise manner. How many times when we were passing through bad times we thought,’ I can not take it any more’. And yet we rose like a phoenix from that crisis.

Human beings are very resilient and we always bounce back no matter what the situation is. Some times, of course, it so happens that something snaps within us and we have a breakdown but more often than not, we emerge stronger than before. Be it passing away of a loved one, divorce, heart break, failure in business or poor exam results, Homo sapiens miraculously make a come back.

As they say, it’s darkest before dawn. Right when misery has engulfed us in its dark, dreary arms, when our abysmal sorrow drowns us, a teeny weeny ray of hope pats our heart and tells us, ‘its going to be all right’. It could be some one who loves us or it could be our own mind awakening us.

There are five stages of grief or loss. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.  We may not go through all the stages and in that manner but the outcome is mostly positive.

My husband went through the same stages when he had a stroke in 2010. He was a facilitator, a motivational speaker and a Distinguished Toastmaster before the stroke. Here he was suffering from Aphasia, which affects speech. So imagine his plight. He could not go back to his job, he could not even write a cohesive paragraph. But six years later, he is back in Toastmaster, delivering speeches and singing again. And he used to say, I am useless, I cannot go on. Normally I don’t talk about my personal life but I have seen it happening in my life.

So don’t despair if life is not treating you kindly right now. Happiness is just around the corner. Wait and see

So be it!!!
