‘Words are pistols’
Loaded words, eh? Well Sartre was known for his explosive
ideas. But what profound wisdom is there in these words. Ironical. We always hear, ‘think before you speak’.
Once the words are out, they cannot be retrieved, like the arrow out of quiver.
However, how many times we actually think before we speak?
I, for one, often put my foot in my mouth. Its because I am
very forthright and frequently say things, which can be upsetting. I have
improved with age and time but lot needs to be done. I am not rude but cannot
tolerate hypocrisy.
There are people who actually take their time to say
something and when they say, it’s deliberate. They don’t annoy others and their
opinion is valued. Chanakya says, the less you open your mouth, the better it
is. I would say open it with few trusted people.
Words can make a relationship and destroy it too. But a word
(pun not intended) of caution. Words should be genuine; they should be honest
if you are complimenting some one. They should not be empty words. Don’t praise
if you don’t mean it. Don’t mislead others with your words. At the same time,
take ten deep breaths before you allow you tongue to lash out with harsh words.
One harsh word can leave a life long imprint on a vulnerable
heart and mind. So hit the bull with your words but let that pistol be of
loving, caring and kind words.
So be it!!!
