Change

 Change

The only constant in life. Every minute this world is changing.  They say time and tide wait for no man. It is so true. No human being, no matter how powerful they are, have been able to stop the change. Because we can not stop time. It changes.

Great civilizations prospered and became distinct. The Indus Valley civilization, Egyptian empire, Mesopotamia, the great Romans, all so mighty at their peak, perished with time.

Yet, we fear change. Yes, human beings, despite all the developments in science and technology, travel in space and a comfortable life today, fear change.

We get upset with a little change in our routine. We get upset when we are transferred to another city in our job. We are nostalgic about “our “time. The way society was when we were young;  fashion, music , hair styles. Those were the golden years. We don’t want to change our beliefs, we don’t want to change our opinions.

But change happens. Not just the dressing up, hair styles and music, but the way people think, their outlook about critical issues and their reactions to situations. And that helped us in making this world a better place to live in. Today we accept homosexuality as compared to olden times when homosexuals were prosecuted and jailed. We have a better awareness of human rights, equality of genders. We can still argue about how far is that true, however, change has occurred.

But at no point of time world has changed so fast as is it is changing now. We can’t imagine our life without our cellphone phones and laptops. Even in the beginning of this century, cell phone was not that common and we had to dial in for an internet connection. Telephone was a status symbol in India when I was growing up.

Still we fear change. Because change brings uncertainty and instability. It propels us out of our comfort zone, our cocoon where we are warm and cozy and happy in our own little world.

It’s time to change and leave our cocoon and embrace the change if we want to move ahead. Change with time or we suffer.

There is so much more to write but I’d rather have my readers thoughts about change.

Do you fear change? What changes have you had and  how did you deal with them? Do write to me.

Try a change today.

So be it !!!
