Routine ? Do you have it
I normally write my blog in the morning while sipping my warm water. This is “my” time. Yesterday, however, I went to the temple early morning. After coming back I got busy in my chores at home.
It was after coming back from evening walk when I realized I had not written my blog. I thought of writing it but then there was weeding to be done in flower beds, plants to be watered and dinner to be made. So I let it go.
If I had not watered my plants or done other things, I could’ve written my blog may be. But somehow I found myself stuck.
I find that once there is a routine, it becomes easy to plan one’s day. I usually think of the topic I am going to write about before sleeping and then do it first thing in the morning. I don’t get up from my seat till I have finished writing. But all this got disturbed yesterday.
This was food for thought. Have I become a slave to my routine? Do my creative juices flow only in the morning? Well, so many times I’ve got up in the middle of the night and written a poem because an idea came to me. So creativity was not the issue.
Setting up a time to do something helps us discipline ourselves I think. It trains us to finish a particular task at a particular time. Call it conditioning if you may. But it does help in bringing order in our life. We should not become a slave to our routine. Abraham Lincoln once said, important principles can be and must be flexible.
So without subjecting ourselves to Pavlov’s classical conditioning, we can live a more organized and productive life if we set a routine. Everyone of us have a routine . What’s yours and how far do you stick to it? Do share it. We could all learn from each other.
Here I am sticking to my routine. You do too.
So be it !!!
