‘Happiness depends on ourselves’ –Aristotle

Somebody asked me yesterday why do I always start my blog with a quote by a famous person? Is it because I want validation? Or is it because I want to establish my status as a motivational guru?

I found the question disconcerting and a little rude to begin with.. I start with a quote because somehow that quote represents my inner thoughts. Two, it works as a trigger point. Three, I write for my own satisfaction and share it because I feel many people can relate to it. Everyone cannot write in the sense that they may not have time or they are not sure whether they will be able to continue. I write, even then I am able to relate myself with what others write and I read a lot.

Then why this quote about happiness? Its because no matter what anyone says, Ill keep writing my blog because it makes me happy to give an expression to my creativity. Of course I want to share it with others, like any other writer. In fact, I started writing poetry when I was grade 9. I never showed my poetry to anyone. It was not lack of self-confidence. It was my husband who encouraged me to share my poetry. I still share it with very close friends.

Whatever anyone says should not dampen our spirits. If we choose to be happy, we will be happy. Life will always throw challenges to us but then that is the beauty of life. We do get rattled and depressed but if we choose to be happy, we will be able to face the situation better. Each one of us goes through ups and downs but those who choose to be happy, come out more balanced and calmer. Others become bitter.
