‘You are what your deepest desire is’ Brihdaranyak Upnishad

I was amazed at the statement. Not because it is something I read for the first time, but because it came from a book written almost five thousand years ago.
Today we have Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy and Jack Canfield telling us that we become what we think and desire. People pay hundreds of dollars to attend their seminars and courses. Remember how the movie ‘The Secret’ created a buzz because it told us that universe conspires to give us what we really desire.

And here we have our ancient sages imparting this wisdom thousands of years ago. I am not saying that all the motivational gurus are wrong. No because they talk of the same thing. But if we just took sometime to read our own scriptures, we would find all the answers. Well, most to say.

Tulsidas wrote in Ramcharitmanas, Jehi ke jehi par satya sanehu, so tehi mile na kachhu sandehu. Meaning, that which you desire with real passion, you get it. He wrote it five hundred years ago. So, all the motivational quotes are right with us. All we need to do is to read and reflect. Follow what they say and we will not need to spend our money on seminars. After all what these gurus teach us is to take action or to desire a thing day and night. So that can be done without expensive trips to Miami or Los Angeles.

Kathopnishad says ‘Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is achieved’. 1.4.13 Swami Vivekananda took this quote from there. There is a wealth of knowledge in our scriptures; there is no distinction who can read them and who cannot. These pearls of wisdom are for everyone. Thanks to Internet most of these are available on the net. Just make some effort and read. You will be a happier and wiser person.

So be it!!!
