‘Suspicion always haunts the guilty mind’ –Shakespeare
Human beings are interesting creatures. We mirror our
emotions on others. A chatterbox who dominated a party and doesn’t let any one
else speak has irritated most of us. Little do we realize that we would love to
be in their shoes. At least subconsciously. Or someone who looked glamorous and
got all the compliments is criticized for being a show off? Rings a bell?
A spouse accusing their better half of cheating because they
themselves might have had thoughts of a roaring affair. There could be other
reasons also but more often than not our suspicions are a result of our
harbouring thoughts that are not so pleasant. They say guilty conscious shout
louder. I am not advocating a supercilious attitude, as that itself is a symbol
of deeper issues. What I am trying to say is that most of the time our own
guilt makes us think negative.
Now this can be dangerous we know. But there is good news.
If you recognize your inner thoughts, you can take your first step towards
controlling them with a positive thought. If you think your colleagues are
talking about you behind your back, give them a smile and try to connect with
them. If you think your children are up to something, spend time with them and
talk to them as a friend. If you think your spouse is having an affair, shower
them with love. Go out on a date.
Whatever be the situation, be a beacon of trust, faith and
respect for others. A clear conscious makes a clear mind and a clear mind can
create compassion, love and understanding. Every time a negative thought enters
your mind, say,’ thanks but please leave now. Replace it with a positive
thought about whatever the issue is. Believe me, you will be happier.
So be it!!!
